Rarely in a persons life do you get the chance to make magical dreams come true. You can plan plan plan but without the help of God, some kind of wrench gets thrown in the mix.
A close friend came to me and asked me to please do her wedding reception. At the time me and my business partner had just opened up a restaurant in a marina over looking the river with the city of Norfolk Virginia as the back drop on the other side of the water. It was truly the most beautiful of views in the area. I was excited to do this for her. We spent a couple months planning everything out. The menu was fun for me to plan , we had several food stations set up throughout the restaurant from a seafood station of cocktail style shrimp , oysters and clams on the half shell on a bed ice, a pasta saute station and a beef tenderloin carving station to name a few. As the reception got closer we had tweaked the menu here and there. I had gotten notice of the grand illumination, an event that takes place on both sides of the river for Norfolk and Portsmouth. At a precise time all the buildings in both cities flip the switch that turns on their white lights that outline each and every building signifying the start of the winter holidays. My friend had no idea that her reception was planned on the day of this spectacular event. I took it a step further, since I knew the precise time that the building would light up, I thought it would be cool to plan the bride a grooms toast to each other at the same time as the lighting. Everything went without a hitch. I had the couple standing against the window that over looked Norfolk. She was beautiful in her wedding dress looking at her proud new husband and as they did their toast, this is where God helped out, they touched their glasses together and just at that exact moment, the cities lit up. When the lights all came on, her eyes welled up. She looked at me then she looked out the window then back at me. It was like God had blessed their union. Thank you God for allowing me the opportunity to make a friends special moment be so magical.
