In this business you have to be an actor and get people to believe that you give a shit about anything they have to say or whats going on in their twisted little lives. Parent with children are the worst. I don't know if parents are immune to their children's behaviour or if they just don't give a shit. I'm not big on little people and children fall into that category. I chose to be a bartender because the bar kept kids away and little adults aren't real big on climbing up on a stool. Its a safety zone for me. But as a manager I am unprotected and am thrown right to the battle front of awful people.
One night I was asked to do a table visit. When I asked the server what was up, she told me they wanted to tell me what a great job she had done for them. I made my way to the table and as I approached, I saw a child in a high chair. Something didn't look right, the child was to big to be in this high chair. Yes, I thought, that kid is way to big for that high chair. I came up to the table from behind that big kid and as I began to greet the table the child turned and looked at me. At that point I could see that the child was mentally handicapped. Even more of a surprise was as I was speaking the child reached out and grabbed my groin hard. I struggled to loosen the tight grip that this kid had on my junk. I didn't want to hurt him but my eyes began to water from his squeezing grip. As I danced the dance of pain I thought for a breaf second, I'm going to have to punch this fucker. To my amazement the parents did nothing, except to tell me what a great time they had this evening. I winced a " thats great", still struggeling to get away. Finally I just had to forcefully yank his hand off my area and backed out of his reach. What seemed like fifteen minutes was probly only fifteen painful seconds. The parents obliviouse to what had just happened, or were they? I bet they had a real good chuckle in the car on the way home. I know I did when I got home and had to ice down my swollen sore parts.
